"I must not fear.
Fear is the mind killer.
Fear is the little death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear.
I will permit it to pass over me and through me.
And when it has gone past
I will turn my inner eye to see it's path.
Where the fear has gone there will be nothing.
Only I will remain."
Taken from Frank Herbert's "Dune."
18 Nov 2002 @ 02:21 by fleer : Actually it´s a remake
of Barret Strong, Norman Whitfield/Edwin Star´s "War" made popular by Bruce Springsteen.
Call it a Barret Strong, Norman Whitfield/Edwin Star, FlemmingLeer collaboration.... :)
But somehow I found it appropiate to replace War with Fear. I only see Fear as the reason for BushWar sentiments. A nation being caught up in the total failure of war against terrorism. The war in Afghanistan was to crush Al Quada. But they are alive and probably on the move. (If you can trust the media these days.)
But your quote is much more precise and a lot shorter... thx.
18 Nov 2002 @ 02:26 by ashanti : Hey, yours is pretty good, too! :-)
It's the same sentiment. I am so glad you put this up, because "Fear" is the weapon used by those who would enslave the planet, you are spot on! - keep everyone in Fear, terror - just so long as people do not laugh, are not happy - "Keep 'em in Fear = Keep 'em enslaved". It's bullshit. The time is running out for those who will enslave - and they know it. Both litanies against Fear, their primary weapon, are pretty neat! :-) Thanks for posting this.
18 Nov 2002 @ 10:41 by sharie : fear and then war
Thanks for the war/fear synonym
21 Nov 2002 @ 03:38 by fleer : Well, thanks.
I just had to do it. From time to time ideas pop into my mind and if I find it wortwhile I follow it. And this was something really obvious as well.
