Our lives are lived in intense and anxious struggle, in a swirl of speed and aggression, in competing, grasping, possessing, and achieving, forever burdening ourselves with extraneous activities and preoccupations.

---Sogyal Rinpoche

Awareness of emptiness brings forth the heart of compassion.

---Gary Snyder

Simplifying our lives does not mean sinking into idleness, but on the contrary, getting rid of the most subtle aspect of laziness: the one which makes us take on thousands of less important activities.

---Matthieu Ricard

In the photo, President Nixon greets released POW Lt. Commander John McCain, future U.S. Senator, upon his return from years in a North Vietnamese prison camp, 1973.

We were sitting out Saturday afternoon, trapped in our house by the storm that buried the Ohio Valley in rain, flood, sleet, hail, ice, inches of new snow, and a whopper of a thunderstorm in the middle of the night. Only emergency vehicles were allowed on the roads. We were putting off clearing the driveway yet again and hauling more wood for the stoves...maybe until the power went down as the final stroke of doom. But the electric stayed on for some unknown reason, so Dana was on the computer hunting the blogosphere for news of potential Diebold corruption of primary results. There had been increasing rumors through the week about this, and everywhere I went the buzz was Republicans crossing over to vote on the Democratic side. Some were doing it because they were fed up with their own party, but others were trying to screw the results so that Hillary will go up against McCain. I figured who knows who is who...and it's hopeless, and I was trying not to think about it.

But I also knew Diebold was being mentioned again, the company that makes the legislatively mandated voting machines. The business suffered such colossal blowback from corruption charges after 2004, that they changed the name to Premier. But what, if anything, was done about it? Some states, like California and Ohio, got busy and started throwing them out. But was Diebold at work controlling who wins? Blogs were saying it was Diebold and not the voters that delivered Tuesday's results to Clinton. The satirical site www.theonion.com got the biggest laughs of the week, claiming Diebold accidentally leaked the results of the '08 Presidential race. The New York Times combined its story of the spoof with the news that mighty defense contractor United Technologies is trying to buy out Diebold. [link] If the military runs the elections, what do we have? And is there any significance in the fact Hillary's chief pollster is CEO of the public relations company that Diebold uses? [link] So what have the bloggers come up with?

Of course www.bradblog.com continues to hammer away, as he has done for the past 4 years, on stolen elections through computer tinkering. The one Dana found yesterday though is by some guy who used to work as an engineer in a company for 15 years, until he uncovered dark, inner secrets at the place. His name is Bill Noxid, and it's possible he's part of www.infowars.com . His blog entry Thursday seeks to prove Diebold handed Ohio to Clinton. [link] In that article is a referenced link to his analysis of the New Hampshire primary, which has a county-by-county statistical breakdown. One flustered reader at the blog left the comment I decided to use as a title: What will it take?

Well yeah, that's what I've been waiting for! When is the Congress or some reputable news organization going to go after this? (I get accused of being naive a lot.) It was at this point that an interesting coincidence occured. While Dana was working the computer, I was in the next room watching the commentary by Oliver Stone for his 1995 film Nixon. There are TWO commentaries by Stone in the collector's edition which restores 30 minutes of footage to a film already about 3 hours long. The purpose of the commentaries is for the director of such films as Salvador, Wall Street, Platoon, JFK, and Born On The Fourth Of July, to provide documentation for his extraordinary biography of the 37th President of the United States. What scenes are word-for-word transcripts, what are composites, and what did Oliver Stone actually make up "out of wholecloth," as he says? The coincidental point shows, early in 1969, the Cabinet is floating around on a yacht, and Nixon announces he's going "to give history a nudge" and bomb Cambodia. Somebody worries, "What about congressional oversight?" and Nixon replies, "F--k congressional oversight!" Stone maintains, in the commentary reportedly recorded in 1999, Nixon actually said it.

The implication for the matter at hand, of course, is that Congress hasn't been able to control the Executive Branch for 40 years---and if we count J. Edgar Hoover and CIA overthrows, longer than that. All that's in the restored film, plus the hazy, secret budgets of those organizations and the Pentagon, and the crucial downfall of Cambodia to further plans for restored relations with China. Many credit that move with the eventual collapse of the Soviet Union during Reagan's tenure. What finally undid Nixon and brought forward the Watergate Hearings was not Congressional oversight. It was 2 years of seige upon the White House by student and activist demonstrators. And with that mood to bolster them it was 2 relentless journalists. Blogging's not the same and it won't do it. Even the bumper sticker I saw the other day and like a lot ("Sorry W, I'M the decider: Vote Democrat '08") isn't going to do it. It's what it's always been. It's what tyranny cannot avoid. People in the streets.

Last month Scientific American, which I imagine is reputable enough for anybody (except believers in "church science"), published an article about E-voting technology. Below the title the editors remind us, "Eight years after the controversial 2000 presidential election, electronic voting systems still fail to deliver on their promise of accuracy and security." The article concludes~~~

Whereas certain technology—such as pacemakers and other medical devices—are heavily regulated and must adhere to strict design and construction standards, voting machines are still mostly unregulated. "There's no validation of how the software for these systems is designed and built," (Seth) Hallem (CEO of Coverity, Inc., the San Francisco–based maker of the source code analysis software that SAIT used during its probe of Diebold's system) says, adding that this is "surprising given the importance of voting machines to our national infrastructure."

This has caused problems throughout the U.S. as different states attempt to assess the effectiveness of their e-voting technology. Following a review of e-voting machine security vulnerabilities and source code, California Secretary of State Debra Bowen in August decertified all e-voting machines in her state, other than those designed for disabled voters. Ohio Secretary of State Jennifer Brunner recently released the results of a probe into her state's electronic voting systems that concluded they, too, were riddled with "critical security failures" that could impact the integrity of elections.

"In the year 2000, when the Florida election went nuts, there were some electronic systems, but by and large the vast majority was done on handwritten ballots and punch ballots," SAIT co-director Yasinsac says. In the wake of the controversy, e-voting was held up as a way to restore integrity to the process. "We pushed this technology even though it was not ready," he adds. "Much of the software that the machines used is more than 10 years old and has been revised heavily, making it harder to review."

Any significant changes in election technology will come too late for this year's bid for the White House. In states such as Maryland, where Democratic Governor Martin O'Malley has proposed spending $6.8 million to buy new optical-scan machines to improve the accuracy of that state's elections, the technology will not be ready to go until 2010. Meantime, legislation introduced to the U.S. House of Representatives last year by Rep. Rush Holt [D–N.J.] that would require voter-verified permanent paper ballots (amending the tech-friendly but misguided Help America Vote Act of 2002) is languishing in committee and will not impact this year's elections.

9 Mar 2008 @ 19:11 by vaxen : It gets worse...
Nice little article, jazzo, and I'm glad your intel staff is hard at work but it gets worse. If you, or Dana, do get a few extra moments for 'pure research' then please do a search (Google is fine) on "+PROMIS +Ptech +GoAgile" , thusly sans the quotes or "+PROMIS+Ptech+GoAgile"...

Be creative and you might begin to see just how deep the rabbit hole goes and how long the tentacles of that insidious 'Octopus' mentioned and researched by Danny Casalaro before he was suicided really are. A search on "+michael riconosciuto +PROMIS" might give you insight as well...and "+Diebold +Ptech" (DO it with PROMIS and GoAgile too...) will net you some stuff you might not want to see.

I've many friends who are dead now because they refused to give up the search for No Such Agencys' ties and who stumbled upon that Octopus in heat. The real "Men In Black" are nothing like the faery tales of the UFO buffs but infinitely worse. And every 'Nation-State has them!

Hillary's bodacious mentioning of the Saudis in a very dark and candid moment lead me to believe that even the Clinton-Bush cabal is maybe finally becoming aware of the Plame game and yellow cake beyond the Berlin wall...

Eurasia is the prize and has been so since the 'Great Game' started. No amount of heavy occupation, to establish bases for the final push, is going to prevent the disunified Arabs from their bid at conquering that infernal prize. Cold war? We call it world war IV for a reason and it has been very, very cold, indeed, till now...

BioChem in 09! Don't forget the recent PsyOp in New York city either. Keep it up, sir, you might get into the "American Black Chamber" yet.

Don't forget, too, that you've been 'spotted,' doing business, by the mind control box called 'TV'... Watch your six.

"War statutes in effect and emergency organizations still in operation."

Senate Report 93-549, 93rd Congress, 1st Session, 1973...

"Since March the 9th, 1933, the united States has been in a state of declared National emergency."

Which means since that time the Constitution has been suspended and you are in a state of martial law for the declaration is still in effect. Do you see yet why Bush can say that the Constitution "...is nothing but a piece of paper." [sic] ? And why the Executive, in especial the Chief Executive or Commander In Chief of all our Armed Services, can take such effective control over all? He who has ears let him hear...

PS: Here are a few links which pretty much cover Ptech but it is all related. You might want to check out Wackenhut and the Cabazon indians, too, as well as the A-Neutronic bomb to see what's coming down the pike. ;)

10 Mar 2008 @ 08:44 by jazzolog : An Octopus In Heat
The image gave me pause...and I had to sit a while, buddy, trying to imagine that. I know their big head/bodies can change color and stuff, so maybe they blush red at such times. Pink ink? That part's hazy.

I'm recalling the wall of school buses that surrounded the Nixon White House during the months of protest in his second term. Big joke: hippies, go back to school. Of course Bush STARTED his second term surrounded by school buses, even when he was campaigning---you know, just in case someone might want to ask a question. http://www.newciv.org/nl/newslog.php/_v63/__show_article/_a000063-000262.htm

10 Mar 2008 @ 17:55 by David H. Marshall @71.184.137.101 : Congressional Oversight?
The "to harm" Ignored!

Continuing in 2008 is the U.S. Congress and media still ignored CIA, Inspector General's "it was necessary to conceal these activities from the american public in general, because public knowledge of the unethical and illicit activities would have serious repercussions in political and diplomatic circles...."; U.S. Supreme Court 1987 Stanley Case; Footnote 4, Page 688. [4]

The U.S. Supreme Court Did Not Know?

The "unethical and illicit activities" are those determined by the 1987 U.S. Supreme Court Stanley decision.[4] It extended the coverage of their 1950 Feres Doctrine that a death by a military barracks fire was an "incident to service". [1] Stanley is a 1958 "designed to harm" experiment, conducted in direct disobedience of the DOD Secretary's 1953 order [3], treated as also an "incident to service"! Thereby, because of honorable service afterwards lost are those prior to protection rights that convicted rapists and murderers keep! [5] Despite the efforts of some, such victims have not been given the 1994 “to harm” recovery of, "The Feres Doctrine should not be applied for military personnel who are harmed by inappropriate human experimentation when informed consent has not been given."; U.S. Senate Report "IV. Recommendations. G." [7] In 2008 the U.S. Congress still treats as a 1950 "incident to service" [1] the 1953 order ignored [3] to-date "experiments...designed to harm" [7]!

U. S. Senate Background.

"III. Findings and conclusions." "K. DOD and DVA have repeatedly failed to provide information and medical followup to those who participate in military research or are ordered to take investigational drugs." and "N. Participation in military research is rarely included in military medical records, making it impossible to support a veteran’s claim for service-connected disabilities from military research."[7] A now ongoing sixty four (64) years of misplaced Medical Records!

By their inaction the U.S. Congress has approved the continuation on our sons and daughters of the: "Introduction" A. "During the last 50 years, hundreds of thousands of military personnel have been involved in human experimentation and other intentional exposures conducted by the Department of Defense (DOD), often without a servicemember's knowledge or consent.", B. "most Americans would agree that the use of soldiers as unwitting guinea pigs in experiments that were designed to harm them, at least temporarily, is not ethical." And "Forward" C. " The findings and conclusions contained in this report are those of the majority staff and do not necessarily reflect the views of the members of the Committee on Veterans' Affairs." Chairman. Thereby, DOD & Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Healthcare System to-date covered up are these experiments and prevented is treatment as documented by the U.S. Senate Report.[7]

In 2008 the opposing "views" resulted in a continuing on the general public of a version of the DOD Project 112 biological lessons learned.[8] This is by the 19 December 2006 established civilian "Biomedical Advanced Research and Development Authority (BARDA)".[10] Under the cover of its "national security missions", as it is for military personnel, withheld from the civilian "guinea pigs" are the cause and effects of its "Biomedical...Research and Development” (R&D) Projects.

Order Ignored.

From 1953 the U.S. Senate "to harm" lessons learned were in direct disobedience of the DOD Secretary's TOP SECRET order. The U.S. Senate’s 1994 "servicemember's knowledge" and "consent" was required forty one (41) years earlier. [3] Then known by the Secretary's of all Services, Joint Chiefs of Staff, and their R&D Board. The order was "UNCLASSIFIED" in 1975. Nineteen (19) years later, during the U.S. Senate’s reported past 50 years, most of the "to harm" service records were destroyed in a 1973 National Personnel Records Center (NPRC) fire. Those that survived had all witnesses censored by Congress’s 1974 Privacy Act! The "Veterans Right to Know Act" was proposed in the 2005 and H.R. 4259 [109th] 2006 Congress. It never became law.

All Is In-The- Record!

Each Executive Branch (DOD, CIA & BARDA) Project completes the R&D process. The prior lessons learned are reviewed. The then Scope of Work defines what the experiment is "designed" to do. The how, where, when and who is identified. The conducted researched cause and effects are closely followed. From the results are developed safe production, use, the needed for treatment and protection, e.g., the DOD manufacturers handling of hazardous materials such as Depleted Uranium, Agent Orange, the biological agents of Project 112 [9], the jet-engine noise levels of Project 7210 [2] and the STANLEY “investigational” drug [4]. All is in the Executive Branch record! Under the cover of national security the revealing treatment evidence: 1. Is not cause identified in a subject’s Medical History, so that they never the wiser become. The deceived victim’s "to harm" effects are not Medical History recorded, therefore not addressed! Prevented is any follow up by independent civilian and VA physicians. And 2. For veterans’ the 64 years of experiment specific injuries are not in the VA "schedule of ratings for disabilities" [6]!

A few in Congress made certain that this revealing evidence will not be addressed. The year following STANLEY was the 1988 Veterans’ Judicial Review Act. Established was the Veteran’s Legislative severely restricted, Article I Court. "The court may not review the schedule of ratings for disabilities or the policies underlying the schedule.", i.e., the order ignored "to harm" R&D experimental effects and their causes! The Veterans Court Chief Judge's no teeth statement with his VA ignoring of the Court’s decisions! [6] The Secretary of the VA was given Final Decision authority on these issues. [9] Included is the power of NO APPEAL to this LEGISLATIVE Veterans Court or to the independent U.S. Judicial Branch Courts. If allowed an APPEAL, it is not part of the record at the Article I Veterans Court. The evidence is also missing at the next level U.S. Judicial Branch Article III, Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit.

Why “may not review”?

The may not be reviewed needed for treatment records and underlying policies restrictions are to prevent alerting medical, administrative and judicial "activities"! This is due to the still in 2008 reasoning of "it was necessary to conceal these activities from the american public in general, because public knowledge of the unethical and illicit activities would have serious repercussions in political and diplomatic circles and would be detrimental to the accomplishment of its mission." U.S. Supreme Court 1987 Stanley Case; Footnote 4, Page 688 on its proven 1958 CIA "to harm" experiment on U.S. Army personnel. [4]

"Right to Know".

There now is no 64 years later "Veterans Right to Know". After they complete Honorable Service despite the efforts of some Congress has not given back to veterans their rights. Revealed would be the few’s corrupt “may not review” for the greater good of all. As accomplished by the end justifies the "designed to harm" means. Carried out under the cover of our nation’s wars! A few key members in Congress, have dishonored all those that serve.

Hold Responsible.

Now BARDA Experiments Conducted on You! Please, Hold Your Members in the U.S. Congress Accountable! These U.S. Supreme Court and U.S. Senate Documented Facts Are Internet Censored.[11] Passing this on to Others So That They May Do the Same Would Be Appreciated. Thank You.

“And how we burned in the camps later, thinking: ‘What would things have been like if every security operative, when he went out at night to make an arrest, had been uncertain whether he would return alive and had to say good-bye to his family? Or if, during periods of mass arrests, as for example in Leningrad, when they arrested a quarter of the entire city, people had not simply sat there in their lairs, paling in terror at every bang of the downstairs door and at every step on the staircase, but had understood they had nothing left to lose and had boldly set up in the downstairs hall an ambush of half a dozen people with axes, hammers, pokers, or whatever else was at hand…The Organs would very quickly have suffered a shortage of officers and transport and, notwithstanding all of Stalin's thirst, the cursed machine would have ground to a halt!’ ”

a lighter note here is a place, amigo, that delineates what it will take for us to reinstantiate the "Constitutional Republic" we are guarnarteed (I like that spelling but it really should be guaranteed! In all seriousness you must know that McCaine is a 'shoo' in. Shoo fly...don't bother me? Not a chance. He's in like Flynn. You'll see. All the more reason to visit the link and find out about 'original jurisdiction elections' and how you can hold Corp U.S. accountable.

You may wish to brush up on 'The District of Columbia Organic Act of 1871.' It will help you understand the difference between Corp. U.S. and The Government of the United States. Oh, on February 27th of 1801 there was a second District of Columbia Act.

Corp U.S. (The MunicipalGovernment of the District of Columbia) is a private foreign corporation owned and controlled by the IMF. Obama? A shill in the shell game called 'Democracy.' No need to pass the ammunition at all lest that ammo be the real Law which will 'save you.'

13 Mar 2008 @ 16:01 by jerryvest : Thanks for asking, Vax. I'm learning
a lot about our wounded soldiers and know that they are true Warriors who have been required to do an impossible job. I don't have the academic freedom to discuss their stories, but in time it will all ocme out in the news. I know that our soldiers are now having a battle with the war trauma and all of our therapy and integrative health practices are used to help them and their families. I am in a special program that offers massage, meditation, acupuncuture, reiki, hypnosis, tai chi, chi gong, therapy (individual, couple, group and family), expressive arts and we take field trips. The soldiers also go to a simulation range every week that allows them to experience many situations like exploding IED's and various engagements with the enemy. I shot an M16 with them for the first time and was surprised how well I did as the last time I used a weapon was an M1 and carbine in 1954.

Anyway, I am working this evening so have some time this morning to answer my mail and read my favorite logs.

Best wishes to all,

Jerry

PS My day starts at 5:00am and I get home at 5:30pm most evenings so I don't have much time or energy to write and interact here.

14 Mar 2008 @ 08:05 by jazzolog : War Trauma
How can a soldier feel anything else? I should think a blown mind is the perfectly appropriate response to the reality of our policies when experienced up close. As for stretching oneself out so, I understand completely how you feel...and find myself sorting through the things I do to weed out those that are a waste of time---like a meeting I went to last evening. Thank you for the work you do to put people back together. As for NCN, there ain't so much to interact with here anymore anyway.

14 Mar 2008 @ 12:34 by jerryvest : You are right on about this, Jazzo...
This is an interesting comment by Bush. If he thinks Afghanistan is such a great experience for the soldiers, then why aren't his children serving? {link:http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2008/03/13/bush-envious-of-soldier_n_91455.html}

Anyway, he is wrong about this just like everything else he states about our wars. If he really talked with the injured Warriors from Afghanistan and Iraq, he would show more respect for them and for what they do there. I know of several soldiers who served in both places for several tours of duty. Many serve in both theaters and I know that they would not describe their experience as a "Romantic Adventure."

Keep up the great work that you do, Jazzo.

Jerry

14 Mar 2008 @ 15:45 by quinty : I suppose
no one should be too surprised by anything Bush says. (Unless he openly confesses and comes clean to the American people, openly revealing all the White House rot and corruption. ) But that "romantic adventure" comment surprised me. All these years I've thought that somewhere in the depths of that little mind there had to at least be some consciousness of how horrible war is. Inspite of the constant smiles and giggles and snickers.

I couldn't believe a man could possibly be so shallow. Even if he himself hadn’t been to war someone there in the White House, a general, perhaps, or other veterans in the administration who have seen war would tell him. How could a man launch a war without being aware of its horrors? Were these Neocon psychopaths so in love with war they didn’t even consider the inevitable death and destruction, in spite of their numerous pious public utterances?

But perhaps that “romantic adventure” comment explains it. The constant bonhomie, the self-satisfied high spirits, the reassuring grins and smiles: while thousands of people are dying, being blown up. This hideous moron doesn’t even see what he is doing to so many people! Right on: his daughters should go if it’s such a “romantic adventure.”

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - U.S. President George W. Bush got an earful on Thursday about problems and progress in Afghanistan where a war has dragged on for more than six years but been largely eclipsed by Iraq.

In a videoconference, Bush heard from U.S. military and civilian personnel about the challenges ranging from fighting local government and police corruption to persuading farmers to abandon a lucrative poppy drug trade for other crops.

Bush heard tales of all-night tea drinking sessions to coax local residents into cooperating, and of tribesmen crossing mountains to attend government meetings seen as building blocks for the country's democracy-in-the-making.

"I must say, I'm a little envious," Bush said. "If I were slightly younger and not employed here, I think it would be a fantastic experience to be on the front lines of helping this young democracy succeed."

"It must be exciting for you ... in some ways romantic, in some ways, you know, confronting danger. You're really making history, and thanks," Bush said.

He was told of efforts to reduce support for the Taliban in tribal areas as well as hopeful signs that schools were being built, more health care was reaching remote areas and local government officials were being trained in management.

Critics accuse Bush of focusing on Iraq to the detriment of Afghanistan where the Taliban has persisted in fighting after being ousted from power by the U.S.-led war in 2001 following the September 11 attacks.

NATO SUMMIT

Bush will try to persuade allies at a NATO summit in early April to do more for Afghanistan. He wants international support to reduce violence, boost the economy and provide social services.

"We're obviously analyzing ways to help our NATO allies to be able to step up, and step up more," he said.

Canada has demanded 1,000 more troops from other countries as a condition for remaining in Afghanistan to work near Kandahar where its 2,500-strong force is fighting the Taliban.

"We're mindful of their request, and we want to help them meet that request," Bush said.

NATO has a total of 43,000 troops in Afghanistan. The United States has 29,000 troops in the country, about half of which are part of NATO, and is sending another 3,200 Marines.

The Afghan mission is the toughest ground war faced by the 59-year-old alliance and has led to open differences among allies over tactics and troop levels.

Bush sat at the head of a conference table at the White House with Vice President Dick Cheney, Defense Secretary Robert Gates, Deputy Secretary of State John Negroponte and others.

A Reuters correspondent was permitted to observe the White House exchange that took place with U.S. Ambassador to Afghanistan William Wood and U.S. military and civilian personnel in Kabul.

The videoconference was stopped several times when the sound crackled, diagnosed by technicians as a bad microphone at Kabul's end, which was immediately swapped out for a new one.

"You're looking beautiful but you're not sounding too good," said Bush, who was in charge of the remote control, increasing and lowering the volume at will.

Bush was told that if local governments can provide for their people, they will respond by breaking away from tribal law and the Taliban.

One of the American participants in Kabul said there was a saying in Ghazni: "Taliban begins where the paved road ends."

If Bush were younger, he'd be in the Texas Air National Guard, skipping physicals, drinking a lot and going AWOL to work on one of his daddy's friend's campaigns. Does he think we have no memory? Read Hatfield's book Fortunate Son.

17 Apr 2009 @ 18:38 by David H. Marshall @96.233.100.194 : Lost VA medical histories?
The VA didn’t know?
From 1956 is the Project 7210 known certain jet engine injury for ALL UNPROTECTED flight line and navy deck personnel. It is requested that you ask your congressional representatives to make sure that oversight and accountability is realized for all. This is for a 1948 required but ignored 95 decibels (dB) noise level, without protection injury. It is a sound pressure multiple (X) of 59 times that of a normal conservation. Accordingly, a then 1956 Project 7210 known certain disability from an unprotected sound pressure of 6,144 X (@ 135 dB) to 815,583 X (@ 177 dB) exposure.
A mysterious disappearance of proof!
A 2009 visit to the Project 7210 "contrails.iit.edu" site revealed that the under its "search", using "TR 54-401", the 130 page jet engine noise levels Report has disappeared! This is the proof of the U. S. Military’s unprotected jet engine very high noise levels that ranged from 135 dB to 177 dB. It was a then known certain injury in direct disobedience of the 1948 Air Force Regulation (AFR) 160-3. A follow on to the Harvard Univ. WWII V-51R hearing protection. This is the AFR 160-3 required protection at a 95 dB. maximum noise level with a sound pressure multiple (X) of 59. The USAF Wright Air Development Center "contrails.iit.edu" site had the July 1956, Project 7210, Technical Report (TR) 54-401. Recorded, at a radius of 50 feet, are the noise levels for 27 versions of 10 jet-engines in 1947 to 1956 U. S. Military service. This previously received, now vanished from site report is available on request. The sound pressure multiple (X) source is the American Medical Association (AMA) Family Medical Guide 3d. Edition page 365, also email available. Its 60 dB "Normal conversation" is the base line for the calculated AMA "....sound pressure doubles with an increase of 6 decibels". Accordingly, the 27 versions of the10 jet-engines have overall sound pressure multiples ranging from a low of 6,144 X (@ 135 dB) to a high of 815,583 X (@ 177 dB) vs. the ignored required 59 X (@ 95 dB) protection.
TR 54-401 and this veteran’s in-hand documentation could help some so exposed, e.g., "Had some trouble with hearing while working on warm-up crew for F-86 D with very high noise levels." The physician’s 29 Jan. 54 USAF Cadet Wing Commander washout statement. At Tyndall AFB, Panama City, Florida the hundreds of flight line personnel were unprotected and subjected to the Project 7210 "very high noise levels". For F-86D personnel it is the then known certain J47-GE-1 jet-engine noise level injury, i.e., the TR 54-401 pages 68-75, "Test Group 10, Date of the Tests: 1952, Test Numbers 62-64". This is an at 50 feet 158 dB noise level with an 87,381 X sound pressure multiple. Fifteen (15) of the 77 were repeatedly exposed to a "warm-up crew" level of over 699,051 X at 176 dB! As with ALL UNPROTECTED flight line (USAF, Army & USN) and flight deck (USN) personnel, they worked much closer to the jet-engines than the at 50 feet recorded noise levels. Therefore, all were subjected to well over the 6,144 X to 815,583 X sound pressure multiples. An over 50 years of VA lessons learned from an unprotected injury in direct disobedience of the 1948 AFR 160-3 requirement..
Your consideration is most appreciated. Thank you.
