THE FOREST GREEN: Closer Now

Closer Now

Wanderer; rest thou in this warm sun's rays
Seek not the search for a time
Rest now the meter and the rhyme
Put aside the nights and glory in the days
Gather close to share sweet reminisce
Closer now, lover's kiss

Wanderer; cast your urgent cares to the sky
Be thou the earth so rooted down
Noblest of trees with verdant crown
Stop asking the wherewith and the why
Cling closer to the reeling precipice
Closer now, another kiss

Wanderer; is it time for you to depart?
The forest weeps at your fleeing flight
Suddenly fear touches the coming night
Forget not the drums of the enflamed heart
Too close to forget the sweetened bliss
Closer now, one last kiss
