The Black Raven Sails

The tattered forms walked the rotten scow
Wind blew the sails and rocked the bow
Ghosts of the Black Raven were aboard
A filthy crew and haunted hoard

They sail upon the twisting straight
Wailing about their cur-sed state
The blackness follows where’er they go
Driven where’er the ill wind blows

Doomed is he who sees those sails
Another death added to the tale
You’ll walk forever that slimy deck
One more ghost on the haunted wreck

Your body will rot before your eyes
As anguished screams drown out your cries
Your suffering will last ‘til time is o’er
The Black Raven sails forevermore.

As I was reading that I thought of Pirates of the Caribbean, but then the radio intruded and it was playing {|A Sea Symphony by Vaughan Williams}. Weird eh?

"Such are the Diseases and Terrors of the long Calms, where the Sea stagnates and corrupts for Want of Motion; and by the Strength of the Scorching Sun stnks and poisons the distrest Mariners, who are rendered unactive, and disabled by Scurvies, raging and mad with Calentures and Fevers, and drop into Death in such a Manner, that at last the Living are lost, for Want of the Dead, that is, for want of Hands to work the Ship."
