Mining the Mind: Five Card Stud
 Five Card Stud17 comments

These are the rules of the game. You can choose to fold at any time, but if you choose to play you must first pay the ante. The game ends when there is only 1 left in the game.
Here are the details I have constructed. Five cards, aces high, jokers wild, naturals win. There are only 11 cards in the deck. 4 of the cards are aces, 4 of them are kings, 2 of them are jokers. We each have three cards showing face up. I have 2 kings showing with an ace. You have 2 aces showing with a king. The rest of the cards are not yet revealed. If you choose to play, this is the ante: Who is going to win?

If this had been a week ago, I would have been annoyed that I was uncertain what to say! But now I'm glad, as I have come to like you a lot, enjoy your intelligence and always check to see what you have said.
I am sitting here, with some playing cards laid out, trying to think it through. Its too hard for me, J. Help me out!
You or I will win.

23 Sep 2003 @ 03:27 by jeffolsen : The game has started......
Jokers are wild. The choice is up to you to play your hand or fold. The game is poker. Do you bluff? Do you fold? Do you know? Me or you? At the moment, there are still two players in the game. The game ends when you make it one. You paid the ante with the last line of your comment. You may as well enjoy the game now. Should be fun.

23 Sep 2003 @ 04:25 by spiritseek : I win...
I have hidden an ace and king. My personal strength is to swim at all costs.
********************************************************************
How did you do that? I dealt this hand. I will swim too! I see your bet and I raise you this: How long will this game take to play out?

23 Sep 2003 @ 04:52 by swan : I don't know anything about cards
but this is going to be a long game because we are both winners!

And I can do magic with the hand that I have been dealt.
******************************************************************
Indeed you can.

23 Sep 2003 @ 04:53 by scotty : Hearts are my cards...
Hearts are the life of this game..of life !
..win or lose I win.
*********************************************************************
Fair statement. :)

23 Sep 2003 @ 08:53 by repsyche : deal me one card then...
...and shine on you crazy diamond
*********************************************************************
You call for the last card? Okay, what card are you getting rid of?

23 Sep 2003 @ 17:29 by spiritseek : As long as it takes...
no more and no less.
*********************************************************************
Ok, I fold. You win this hand.

24 Sep 2003 @ 01:31 by repsyche : I discard...
the unspecified card.
*********************************************************************
And turn up a king indeed. Your call now.

24 Sep 2003 @ 16:12 by repsyche : If I call you now...
...I may win and thereby ruin the game, and as it is the only one in civilisation, I levitate you, (excuse my ignorance of the correct terminology).
Your turn, I believe.
*********************************************************************
Well, Chris already revealed one of the hidden cards as the Queen of Hearts. You discarded the Ace of Spades to reveal the King of Diamonds. The Ace of Hearts is in your hand, as well as the the Ace of Diamonds. The King of Hearts is in your hand as well, so all that is left undetermined in this game is the Jokers. A pair of Jokers playing at poker. Apparently, I am holding the Ace of Clubs, the King of Spades, and the King of Clubs. I levitate you this: Would it be unsporting of me to tell you that I already know who is holding which cards?

24 Sep 2003 @ 16:34 by jmarc : if it was 5 card draw
with no wild cards, i'd play, but wild cards always confuse me, so i think i'll just sit this one out. Maybe i'll sit behind one of the players and make funny faces :) Or i could mix the drinks.
*********************************************************************
That'd be wild. :)

24 Sep 2003 @ 20:41 by jeffolsen : Spiritseek,
did you want to play for real this time? I'll play with you, but you have to pay the ante to play if we are going to play for real.

25 Sep 2003 @ 01:38 by repsyche : I bid you good day
we are both cards, of changable face value - so let the chips fall where they may - if I wanted to fold, I'd take up origami

25 Sep 2003 @ 03:53 by jeffolsen : Do you mean this is a day to be good on?
I raise you this: sometimes becoming aware of the truth involves risk.

25 Sep 2003 @ 04:19 by swan : You are right Jeff,
Sometimes becoming aware of the truth involves risk and so does speak it.
*********************************************************************
do not wish the truth to become msconstrued. t s prec ous to me. will share t n t me. Someth must frst become apparent to me.

25 Sep 2003 @ 16:44 by jeffolsen : Okay
I will use the farce then, before it becomes too late. Before Dark Small gets me, I will become Bright Great. I fold. I have already one. Sometimes compassion is held at the heart of a game played out between jokers. Naturals win, those are the rules. I will not beat your hearts with clubs or bury your precious diamonds with my spade. The Queen is in the hand of the beholder. Win or lose I win indeed. I just have to make my Jokers hearts become apparent.

26 Sep 2003 @ 04:13 by repsyche : Arise Sir Lionheart
thou art mightily honoured and thy reputation is assured, verily thy works are legion and much-admir'd amongst gentlefolk creation-over! Call clarion horns!Bring on the Quest, for the Players at the Round Table are restless and in need of Adventure...

26 Sep 2003 @ 12:24 by scotty : JOKER
The Jokers come and the Jokers go
They say they see, but they don't know
They have no eyes at all
They're blinded from the fall
Yeah, yeah, yeah
Whoa, whoa, whoa
Princes and Kings they have their day
Say they care but they turn away
And they do not care at all
They cannot hear the call
Yeah, yeah, yeah
Whoa, whoa, whoa
There's one thing for sure
I can't play this game no more
I'm looking for something I can hold on to
I'm knocking on heaven's door
There's got to be something more
Than words this time to get me through
To get me through, yeah
Yeah, yeah, yeah
Yeah, yeah, yeah
Queen of hearts and deuces wild
Wisdom from the heart of a child
Who was wounded from the fall
No fault of his own
He finally made it home
Yeah, yeah, yeah
There's one thing for sure
I can't play this game no more
I'm looking for something I can hold on to
I'm knocking on heaven's door
There's got to be something more
Than words this time to see me through
To get me through, yeah
Yeah, yeah, yeah
Yeah, yeah, yeah
