It's like good luck, it ain't gonna happen and you'll know what it's like not to succeed. It is not demanding the US solve the problem, but IF Obama is going to talk with so and so, how about saying this or that? The president of the United States has NOTHING to do with it. I hope Obama makes no attempt to try and make peace in the mid east. If the US would concentrate on the energy problem in the US and solve it, the arabs would lose their power. Only then can Israel take talks seriously. Each time there were peace talks, the PLO attacked Israel even more. Rubin did not write it in sarcasm either as far as I can tell. I wouldn't say that the President has nothing to do with it but would certainly agree that most of the interventions of the last several decades by Dem and Rep administrations haven't worked too well and President-Elect Obama would do better for himself and all concerned in my opinion if he tried to do as little as possible to push for 'peace'. Instead he apparently has sent Malley already to probe the Syrians. Not a good omen. Rubin, an expert on Syria, is giving him helpful advice. But things seem too early to tell. President-Elect Obama is an enigma to many people including me and we'll have to wait and see what he does with his opportunity.
